The Anapra subdivision will experience an interruption in water service for an undetermined length of time beginning at approximately  8 a.m. today for repairs to a water line leak. Adjacent areas may also be impacted.

Once water service is restored, customers may notice discoloration due to naturally occurring minerals in the distribution system. CRRUA recommends waiting for the water to become clear before washing laundry. The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, customers should run cold water for several minutes. 

In February 2025, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted a review of the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) and identified 64 areas of concern that need to be corrected.

As of 10-03-2025, CRRUA has corrected 23, a completion rate of 36%.

As the City of Sunland Park (City) moves forward with incorporating the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) as the City’s new Water and Wastewater Utility Department, it continues to initiate improvements to the wastewater system.

On Sep. 18, 2025, the City was awarded a New Mexico Colonias Grant for the construction of a new lift station in the Riverside area to help reduce wastewater backup. The new lift station will replace the existing vacuum station that has experienced a series of breakdowns that resulted in sewage overflow.

UPDATE #2: Repairs have resumed on the broken water line impacting water service in the Anapra area. CRRUA will provides further updates.

Update - Service is restored. The Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) is currently repairing a water line break at the intersection of McNutt Road and Racetrack Drive. Water service in the Anapra area will be interrupted during the repair process and CRRUA will provide progress updates.

The Sunland Park Fire Department is conducting hydrant flushes/testing today in the Sunland Park areas of Villa Valencia/Valencia Hills.

The actions may result in discolored water due to the disturbance of naturally occurring minerals in the distribution system. CRRUA recommends waiting for the water to become clear before washing laundry. 

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, flush cold water faucets for several minutes.
