CRRUA Ends 2025 with All Four Treatment Facilities NMED Compliant for One-Full Year

The Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) passed its monthly operational control arsenic tests for December 2025, as verified by an independent laboratory. CRRUA provides water and wastewater services to Sunland Park and Santa Teresa, NM.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Maximum Contaminate Level (MCL) for arsenic is 10 parts per billion (ppb).

Test results released by Eurofins Environment Testing; a water lab certified by the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED,) show the Sunland Park Arsenic Treatment Facility (ATF) at 6.0 parts per billion (ppb,) Santa Teresa Community ATF at Not Detected and Santa Teresa Industrial ATF at Not Detected. The test results are from samples taken Dec. 2, 2025.

Not Detected means that while arsenic was present, the concentration in the samples tested was too low to reliably measure based on the analytical procedure used.

CRRUA excluded Border Entry ATF from its monthly voluntary testing due to its continued meeting of all NMED requirements.

CRRUA ends 2025 with all four ATFs having achieved one full year of NMED compliance based on the department’s Running Annual Average (RAA).

“This milestone marks a significant benefit for our residents,” said CRRUA Executive Director Juan Crosby. “It demonstrates CRRUA’s unwavering commitment to providing water that is compliant with arsenic standards under the Safe Drinking Water Act.”

The RAA is determined by adding the previous four quarterly NMED test results for each ATF and dividing each total by four.

CRRUA provides all arsenic test results on the home page of its website at crrua.org and on Facebook at facebook.com/crruainfo.
