CRRUA Welcomes Top Regional EPA Officials for Meeting and Site Visits

(Posted 11-05-2026 @ 9:13 p.m.) Senior officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6 met with representatives of the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) today for discussions and site visits focused on CRRUA's water and wastewater operations, environmental compliance progress, and its request for funding through the Border Environment Infrastructure Fund (BEIF). EPA Region 6 encompasses New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

EPA officials toured CRRUA's water and wastewater facilities, where they received briefings on facility operations, infrastructure conditions, treatment processes, and ongoing efforts to improve system performance.

"Maintaining open communication and working collaboratively with EPA Region 6 leadership provides an opportunity to highlight the infrastructure investments needed to continue improving services for the health and welfare of our community," said CRRUA Executive Director Juan Crosby.

In addition to facility tours, discussions included CRRUA's funding request through the Border Environment Infrastructure Fund (BEIF). The BEIF is administered through the EPA's U.S.-Mexico Border Water Infrastructure Program in coordination with the North American Development Bank. It provides financial assistance for water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the U.S.-Mexico border region designed to address environmental and public health concerns in border communities.
