The Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) has completed repairs to water line breaks, and a sewer line leak in the Anapra area and has reactivated water and wastewater services to the area.
Under its Proactive Safety Protocol, CRRUA has issued a Water Boil Advisory, which is a standard procedure due to the large area impacted.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR RESIDENTS
Do not drink the water without boiling it first. As a standard precaution following the Monday, September 7, 2026, repairs, bring all water to a rolling boil for one minute and let it cool before using. This applies to water used for:
- Drinking and cooking
- Brushing teeth and making ice
- Washing fruits and vegetables
- Preparing baby formula
- Providing water for pets
WHAT IS BEING DONE?
CRRUA will send water samples to an independent laboratory certified by the New Mexico Environmental Department (NMED) to conduct quality testing. This precautionary advisory will be lifted as soon as laboratory results confirm the drinking water meets all NMED safety and quality standards. CRRUA will notify residents immediately through its website, Facebook page, and the Sunland Park Connect app as soon as the precautionary advisory is lifted.

With water service restored, water pressure may remain low for a short time while the lines are pressurized, and customers may notice temporary water discoloration caused by naturally occurring minerals in the distribution system.
CRRUA recommends waiting until the water runs clear before washing laundry. The discoloration should clear within 24 hours. If it persists, customers should run cold water for several minutes until it clears.
