CRRUA will be closed on June 19 in observation of Juneteenth.
CRRUA’s new, one-million-gallon elevated water tank is scheduled to go online. Planned water service interruptions to connect the new tank to the distribution system will be announced in advance.

The Camino Real Regional Utility Authority (CRRUA) will provide advance notice to customers of planned water service interruptions in the near future to allow crews to connect a new one-million-gallon elevated water tank to the utility's existing water distribution system.

The new elevated tank, located on the West Mesa, will provide additional water storage, and improve system reliability for customers in the northern area of Sunland Park and the Santa Teresa Industrial Park.

“This will be a two-phase process,” said CRRUA Executive Director Juan Crosby. “The first phase is to connect the new elevated tank to the existing water distribution system. The second phase is to perform mechanical upgrades required for the elevated tank.”

The two phases will operate at different intervals, which will require one planned water outage for each interval.

Specific dates, anticipated outage duration, and other information will be announced as soon as the project schedule is finalized.

Crosby encourages customers to begin planning ahead for the temporary water service interruptions and said CRRUA is coordinating with area first responders and the Dona Ana County Office of Emergency Management to help ensure service continuity.

“Advance preparation for scheduled, temporary water service interruptions is essential, especially during the summer months,” said CRRUA Executive Director Juan Crosby. “So, we will keep the community updated with timely information.”

Project updates will be posted on the CRRUA website and Facebook page, and the City of Sunland Park website and the Sunland Park Connect app.
